I just wanted this to be less complicated between Canadian owners and US owners. The link below is a direct hit for Transport Canada and all the recalls in their database.
http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/recalls/search_e.asp
So as for the latest investigations in the other thread, yes it does apply to Canadians as well, in fact there is a recall on a weld between the fuel tank inlet valve and the fuel tank was not made to specification and can fail. Keep in mind that this is only for 2004. Todate they say 9 AZTEKS were affected, whats funny is if you look at the ball joint recall 49,000 AZTEKS were affected.

do you have to contact a dealer to see if recalls have been done on your car or is there somewhere online you can put your VIN in to find out?

I had my ball joints done last year i would strongly suggest you bring it to your dealer and verify if it has been done, if you bout your tek new then get it done when you start to feel some play back there . i do not believe there is an expiry date, the best place to question would be the dealer , you can just call them

There are places on-line that can check the vin for you to see what recalls are available but none will tell you if the recall has been done on YOUR vehicle, Call your dealership they all have a common database with GM. GM documents all the changes done to your vehicle, taking into consideration all the repairs were done at the dealership.
