Instructions on how to replace Bank 1 Sensor 1 Oxygen sensor
«

I have a 2001 Aztek GT and got error codes P0132 and P0135 which both relate to the front bank 1 sensor 1 oxygen sensor. Now just need to where that is and what exact part it is. NAPA should be able to help with the exact part, does anyone have any helpful info on replacing it? Hoping to save some cash on this replacement as i just spent 730 bucks on parts and labor for a new BCM. Thank you!

i assume the check engine light came on and you ahd the codes read . i would disconnect the battery and let the light reset then drive it and see if it comes back. mine did the same code and i rest it hasnt been on since

I will give that a try and will let you know what happens. That would be great if it works. I did have the codes read and they "dumped" them, but the light came back on when i was driving. I'll try disconnecting the battery and see what happens. Thanks again, and i'll keep ya posted

I gave that a try, but once i reconnected the negative cable and started her up, the light was still on. Guess i gotta get that sensor replaced. Hoping to do it myself, but can't find much info on how to do it and where it is. will keep searching

The #1 O2 sensor is the one located on the back side of the engine in the top of the rear exhaust manifold just before the downpipe connects. It is a major pain to get to.
What I would recommend doing is removing the coil pack. That might give you enough room to access it. If not, you will need to remove the front engine supports and tilt the engine forward either with an engine tilting tool or a nice strong piece of rope that you can tie off securely while the engine is tilted.
You'll probably notice while removing the coil pack that the O2 sensor connector is secured by a stud that snaps on to the back of the coil pack. The new O2 sensor may or may not have a connector with the stud. If it's a universal it probably won't have the stud, so you'll have to get creative with the wiring. (I've got zip-ties all over the place under my hood after the engine rebuild.)
You'll also need an O2 sensor wrench which is pretty much an impact-rated socket with a slit cut in the side to pass the wire through.
This is one of those jobs that is much easier with the exhaust manifold sitting on your workbench. I replaced mine while I had the engine apart to fix the LIM gasket and head gaskets.

If you can't fix it yourself, redesign it since it was obviously poorly designed to begin with, otherwise you could fix it yourself. Right?
