My 2003 Pontiac Aztek is an automatic fwd.  It is not consistently shifting from 2nd to 3rd or from 3rd to 4th as it normally did.  If you take your foot off the gas an try to accelerate most of the time it will then shift gears.  Sometimes you have to do this several times to make it shift.  A few times I have been driving at freeway speeds and it will downshift, the rpms shoot up and I will have to pull over and turn the car off and restart it to get it to drive normally.

I think that the transmission pressure control solenoids need to be replaced.  Can anyone confirm my diagnoses? Can you provide me with the procedure to do this? On a prior search someone listed a 32 step process but I am now unable to find it.

Thanks

I had a toruqe converter go out in a Trans Sport minivan... it would not allow shifting happen right. Had to tap the gas like that to 'manually' tell it to let go and shift already. I had it replaced and the transmission rebuilt while it was all out.

Sadly... it sounds like either a PCM issue or it's time for that 4T65E to go to transmission heaven.

Mine had to rebuilt at 98k when OD went out.
