I had the groan happening, so after much research and deliberation I replaced the RDM with Royal Purple Synchromax. The old stuff looked deep golden with streaks of gray as it flowed, looked like hypoid to me. Anyway the Synchromax took most of the noise away but some groaning is still there on real tight turns. Perhaps I will just use the Synch.. as a flusher and refill with Versatrak fluid.

My main question is this. In case I need to service the RDM, has anyone replaced components such as the clutch pack assy (can). I came across some TSB's that describe the fix as replacement of the can instead of the entire unit. The old part number has been superceeded by a new number that carries over to new models. The can costs around $250.00 and looks like a pretty easy task.

Are there other common fail & servicable compenets? Hopefully I wont need to go there.......
