Author Topic: Can I drive without AWD Driveshafts in place?  (Read 227 times)

If my rear end goes kapoot, Is it possible to disconnect the drive shafts from the differential and just drive it that way untill you have enough money to fix it right? It seems to me like the drive shafts are not holding anything on and that them being connected to the back wheels is just causing more wear and tear on the system. I'm curious as I need by vehicle for my job but I don't have enough capital to replace a rear end if it comes to that.

I would think so since my Dad did that same thing with his Chevy Equinox.  He has driven at least 100,000 running in FWD mode only now.  I do think that he has some sort of warning light illuminated- I don't know if it is ABS, Trac control??
