So, my 2003 Aztek has had the AWD Disable light on for a while now, I have changed both rear wheel bearings semi-recently. Yet the light remains on (note at least 1 of the wheel bearings were bad and making HORRID noise). I broke down and took the Aztek to Firestone to read the code and diagnose. They said the code was "V1064" and that meant the Rear Differential Pump Actuator was bad. I'm waiting on an estimate from Firestone for the part, they advise labor will be $100. So, my question....does "V1064" code really mean that the Rear Differential Pump Actuator is bad? They tested and the pump actuator has power and ground feedback, so that sounds like the electrical connections are okay. How hard is it to replace the Rear Differential Pump Actuator? Does anyone know what the part number for this is, I have not been able to find it online yet....going to call a dealer in the morning (GM Part only I've been advised by Firestone). Thanks! Kevin

P.S. Does anyone have a picture or diagram of where the Rear Differential Pump Actuator is located and how its connected?

See my other post. Just replaced the valve with a part cost of $332.00. Valve has 3 terminals and a screen filter on it.

Did replacing the valve resolve your issue? Do you know what code was posted with the AWD Disable light?

Well, I bought a new valve ($200) and new Versatrak fluid and change out the valve and the fluid in the differential. Started the car up, and low and behold the stupid AWD light came back on!! With the AWD light came on the ABS light as well.
Did drove around and make a lot of turns/circles and re-check the fluid, added more and still have the light.
Any ideas??
I'm having a hard time figuring out this one..
Thus far I have replaced all 4 Wheel Hub Bearings, Replaced the AWD Valve, Replaced the Versatrak Fluid in the rear Differential.
A few months ago Firestone told me the AWD light was on because of the following code "V1064". That cost me nearly $100 to get the code read and supposedly to check the wires to validate that the proper level of "current" was present at the connector for the valve.
Does anyone know what the proper level of "current" should be on the 3 wires at the AWD Valve? I've got an Ohm Meter...and I am still learning just how to use it.
Thanks, Kevin

Took it to a mechanic that I trust today to get the codes read and let him diagnose the issue. I provided a sheet of what I had already done to it. He found out that when I replaced the Rear Passenger Side Wheel-Hub-Bearing that I had routed the wire wrong, it caught on the axle.
So, I still had an old Wheel-Hub-Bearing that I had pulled earlier this year that was "okay" was just replacing it incase it was the issue and put it on, no warning lights and all is good!!
Think I have resolved the issues, now I am ready for winter driving!!

Hi Everyone, I just joined this site and I have a 2002 Buick Rendezvous which I bought with 45,000 on it, Ive owned the truck for 3 years and I had the versatrak fliud changed soon after i bought it because the rear was groaning and moaning during turns, this completely fixed the problem, I also had AWD and ABS light on over and over since 60.000 100.00s in hub assemblies. WELL as I become more a more agitated with the truck I decided to mess with the wire leading to the hub assembly and whatda know, the damn thing had a break in it this whole time. So please guys check the wire also it could be something as simple as that.
Now the truck has 160,000 miles and its running great and moving fine, still looks as good as it did when I bought it. OF COURSE I DO ALL THE MAINTANCE OF OIL, TRANS, MYSELF this way I know it's done. So a few days ago the rear started to moan again when I pulled into my parking spot, so I will change the fluid again this weekend. HOPEFULLY the fluid change will work its magic as it did 120,000 miles ago and she will no longer make the moaning noise, gonna get it asap cus it's just faint, but as you guys know you can notice the slightest change or noise in our vehicles.

Hey, folks... Another new (well, '04) Aztek owner here... Got it and the dealer said the abs disable light was coming on intermittently. I pulled the wheel and found that the innards of the electrical connector to the r/r wheel was covered with dialectric grease... cleaned w/ brake cleaner and not a wink since. Like the car a lot.

Just got my '04 Aztek out of the shop due to AWD disable light and Anti-lock light coming on intermittently then consistently. They replaced the electrionic control brake module? and for a couple of days everything was dandy - then last night the AWD disable light came on!!!! Called them back and they are going to look at it Monday. There is still grinding/moaning when I make sharp left turns. I was informed some time ago that it was the right front hub assembly. Car will be paid off in March. I love this car but I'm afraid it is going to fall apart on me!

I've seen many cases where its a wiring issue, corroded connections, broken wires ETC. It may gave something to do with the Hub problem also.

Hey everyone. I am also having a problem with the AWD light being on. Was told by a dealer that I needed to replace rear diff clutch pump actuator check valve and 4 bottles of 12378514 which was going to cost well over $500. Don't really have that in the budget right now. Does anyone know where I can buy this part and do the work myself?

gmpartsgiant.com was the cheapest place I found VersaTrak fluid (6 bottles, shipped, $141). And as far as I was able to tell, nothing else meets the GM spec on it, although other people have used other things in place of it. Search the internet for "VersaTrak fluid" and you will find many people with many opinions on fluids they have used, as well as many people moaning about the cost of the real stuff. If you decide to go for the real stuff, might as well get 5 bottles and have them replace the bottle's worth in the transfer case, too. Although I doubt if you will be able to talk a dealership into using fluid you carry in yourself, they want their markup on it... ~aeric
