I found this on Caranddriver.com

Final-drive ratio . . . . . . . . .3.29:1
Gear Ratio Mph/1000 rpm Max. test speed
I   2.92 8.3 51 mph (6100 rpm)
II 1.56 15.6 95 mph (6100 rpm)
III 1.00 24.3 108 mph (4400 rpm)
IV 0.70 34.7 108 mph (3100 rpm)

I noticed that it hits 95 mph in second gear. And hits the governor pretty early in third. It got me wondering how fast it would go if you removed the governor, and put sport tires on it with a higher speed rating.

I believe that the governor is built into the bcm or PCM.  I had 245/35/zr20 tires rated up to 168, and hit that governed speed often.  I just couldn't figure how to disable the governor

RedTek02 ,   are you more curious of top end speed or the time it takes to reach the top speed?  Two ways of looking at it. A final-drive ratio of 3.29:1 is common amongst the 4t65e transmissions and even the 4t65e-Hd in the GTP supercharged applications have the same final drive ratio, the difference in allowing higher end speeds is in the overall ratio of the transaxle.

97drexelgrad , if you are serious about wanting to remove the governor in the pcm, there are many who specialize in pcm tuning and adjustments. Often it is cheaper to have them set it for your application versus the purchase of such programs and attempting it yourself.    My 95 Impala SS  has the 5.7 Lt1 and would would cut back at 256km/h (dash speedo flashing and power cut back) and once I replaced the pcm with a state trooper pcm she did over 310 km/h and I dare not take it any faster, it just wasn't safe feeling. Don't get me wrong it has all new brakes, suspension, and Z rated tires. My point was that with the 9C1 (police edition) pcm the shift points were different and it did not have restrictions the stock SS pcm had, Same pcm part number different flash number.

Now, since I don't have the Tek anymore, it is unimportant to me.  I have looked into tuners for my Sierra that removes or raises the governor limit, but on the truck being high off the ground as it is 95 mph is pretty scary enough.

Dang, yea one time I may or may not have gone a little over 100 mph in the tek... I was rather scared, which sounds lame but it was a old country road so it was not in the best of shape..

The fastest I have ever had mine was 95 MPH. But I was still on the highway on ramp. I wasn't trying to see how fast it could possibly go, I was just having a little fun with the acceleration.  Grin

Yeah, I think I've just done a little over 95 also.  It was on a back country road but it was freshly paved.  The 'tek started to feel really "light" I suppose.  I can't really think of any other word to describe it.  It just kind of felt like it was about to fly off the road.  I do 87 very often on the highway but I don't go much faster.

Now my dad's 328i, that's a whole different story Wink

I've also done 212 in my grandpa's modified '69 Chevy Chevelle SS.  But that was during an open-track day at "Summit Racing Park" a drag strip at home.  So it was totally made to go that hast and the track was made for it too so that wasn't scary, just really effing fun. Smiley

Speaking of modified cars, my dad has a Dodge Neon SRT-4 ACR with 495HP (Dyno Proven) I've had it up to 125mph on country roads. I haven't got to drive it on the drag strip yet.  cool
